We'd Like to Feature You
Since the purpose of this conference is to share ideas from educator to educator, we'd like to feature proven and promising practices fromthroughout the state. What strategy can your school share with others as we work together to raise student achievement and close achievement gaps? Please consider submitting a session proposal. Read below for details.
Giving Back to Your Profession
Is there an effective school-wide program, classroom strategy, student guidance initiative, or effective policy that your school uses to raise student
achievement and/or close achievement gaps? Please consider giving back to your profession by sharing your school’s practices with your colleagues from across the state. Session presentations are informal with presenters simply telling their stories. The purpose of each presentation is to give the attendees 1) a quick overview of your program or strategy and 2) contact information for additional information. Most speakers simply answer the following questions as part of their presentation:
- What are you doing?
- Who is involved?
- How did it come to be?
- What impact is it having?
- How do attendees get additional information?
Conference Strands
The conference has seven strands that correspond with InSAI’s Elements of High Achieving Schools:
- Raising Expectations
- Rigorous Curriculum
- Student Engagement
- Frequent Classroom Assessment
- Extra Help / Time
- Student Guidance
- Learning Environment (discipline, parent involvement, school policy, etc.)
Compensation
The lead session presenter is provided with free registration for the conference. However, to keep the conference registration fee as low as possible, session presenters do not receive a stipend and do not receive reimbursement for mileage, lodging, or printing costs. The presenter and his or her school will be recognized in the Conference Program and a press release will be provided for the presenter’s local media. Presenters who attend the entire conference are eligible for three Indiana Certification Renewal Units (CRU’s).
To Submit a Session Proposal
Those interested in presenting at the Indiana Conference on Learning should submit a Session Proposal by November 30, 2009. All submitters will be notified by December 15, 2009 regarding the selection of sessions.
