Opening Welcome: Dr. Tony Bennett

Dr. Tony Bennett For more than 20 years, Tony Bennett has served Indiana's school children and families. Nine of those years were spent in the classroom as a science teacher and coach. After his career in the classroom, Dr. Bennett began his career in administration, quickly developing a reputation as an inspirational leader with a talent for school management, strategic planning and efficient budgeting.   Dr. Bennett received his Ed.D. from Spalding University and his Master of Science from Indiana University Southeast.

Robert J. Marzano, PhD, is cofounder and CEO of Marzano Research Laboratory in Englewood, Colorado. Throughout his years in the field of education, he has become a speaker, trainer, and author of more than 30 books and 150 articles on topics such as instruction, assessment, writing and implementing standards, cognition, effective leadership, and school intervention. His books include Designing & Teaching Learning Goals & Objectives, District Leadership That Works, Designing & Assessing Educational Objectives, Making Standards Useful in the Classroom, and The Art and Science of Teaching. His practical translations of the most current research and theory into classroom strategies are internationally known and widely practiced by both teachers and administrators. He received a bachelor's degree from Iona College in New York, a master's degree from Seattle University, and a doctorate from the University of Washington.

Luncheon Keynote: Sheri Ranis

Sheri Ranis Sheri H. Ranis is a Program Director at the Lumina Foundation for Education based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Previously she served as a Senior Program Officer with the US Programs/Education Division of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a Senior Fellow with AAC&U, and a higher education consultant. Dr. Ranis grew up in the Washington, DC area. She holds a PhD from Columbia’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences/Teachers College.
