You created a vision-based and data-driven School Improvement Plan to raise student achievement during the 2016-2017 school year! Our team at ASAI understands the amount of time and energy it takes to create a data-driven improvement plan. We sincerely applaud you and believe that your students and parents are fortunate to have you as educators in their community. Well done!

It is now time to look forward to the coming year.

Process: During the first semester, you will begin your interventions, making sure that each is implemented as planned. After all, the time and energy you invested last year is wasted if the interventions are not fully implemented with integrity. Then, next semester, you will update your 2016-2017 SIP to become your 2017-2018 School Improvement Plan. This will be a lot less time consuming than last year because 1) you are not starting from scratch, 2) you understand the Vision-to-Action terminology and process, 3) you will not be working within the constraints of a shortened timeline as you were last year, and 4) no survey is needed next year.

Organizational Structure: During the first semester, we will help you convene the School Improvement Council and prepare to have discussions with your Council. Those discussions may happen face-to-face or online using an online discussion tool that we will provide. You will also create a means for bringing students into the discussion. Most schools have small group discussions in classrooms. Other schools use the discussion prompts for writing assignments. From our experience, the student voice is key to raising student achievement.

End of the Grant Period: The Indiana School Improvement Grant covered the first year of your school's participation in SI2. Therefore, we need to charge for our services for the second year. The cost is minimal. As former Indiana educators, we understand that there are few funds to support school improvement. Therefore, we are committed to providing SI2 at a nominal cost while maintaining the integrity of our services. Some schools fund their involvement in SI2 through bake sales, pop machine profits, community foundation grants, or a PTA donation. Other schools use state and federal funds such as Title I funding.

The annual fee for our services is $1,450. For this amount, you will receive all of the services you received last year including:

IMPORTANT - 2016-2017 Enrollment: To continue your participation in SI2, you will need to enroll for the 2016-2017 school year by completing the SI2 Online Enrollment Form. Please complete this form before participating in the SI2 webinar on October 6, 2016.

2016-2017 Calendar

After the start-up year, SI2 schools operate on a three-year cycle. In the coming year, you are an Update 1 school. The 2016-2017 calendar for Update 1 schools is below. All webinars will begin at 3:30 EST and will last approximately one hour.

All webinars are required. As you know, webinars help Steering Team members:

  1. Understand and prepare for upcoming tasks
  2. Receive updates about state agency activities pertinent to school improvement planning
  3. Ask questions
