SI2 Newsletter - Update 1, 2, & 3 Steering Team Members - August 2017

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It’s a new school year, and you’re ready to start the year with your completed SIP--hooray! Now is the time to:

  1. Look over the plan, make any needed changes to the Steering Team Roster
  2. Look over the Council Roster and make needed adjustments (U1 schools will be receiving instructions on how to create a Council in the September 28 webinar--see below)
  3. Make sure all Preparation Activities (including professional development) are added to the school’s calendar

At this time, you can also continue to drop in achievement data from the spring of 2017 so it will be ready for discussions later.

It is crucial that you use your time wisely and not wait until the last minute to get things done; to do so results in a weakened plan that neither you nor your colleagues will be satisfied with for student achievement and academic growth. As always, communication is key for implementation of a successful SIP; make sure all participants know the details of the plan for your building.

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2017-18 SCHOOL YEAR

We certainly hope that you’ll be joining SI2 for the 2017-18 school year. Renewal is very easy--just follow these steps:

  1. Open asainstitute.org/si2
  2. Click on “Renewal” on the right-hand side of the page
  3. Complete the form in accordance with instructions given

Be sure to do this as soon as you can so this task doesn't get overlooked in the start-of-school rush.

SYSTEM ROLL-OVER

The VTA Process page will roll over to the new school year on September 18. At this time you will see that you will have an empty status column and new deadline dates. Everything entered by your team has been saved and your School Improvement Plan PDF has been archived. The roll-over is the beginning of your new year with SI2!

IDOE DEADLINE FOR SIPs

The IDOE has set September 15 as the deadline for submitting SIPs. If your team hasn't already submitted your PDF to IDOE, follow the steps in the last section of the VTA Process.
